Brand Spotlight: Therafirm Compression Gear
Would you believe us if we told you there’s an innovative, affordable line of compression gear that’s also made entirely in the U.S.A.? We didn’t make that up! We just described Therafirm, one of our favorite brands.
Made in North Carolina with American-sourced materials, Therafirm compression stockings combine comfort and performance to make compression products that you’ll forget you’re wearing. Here are five specific reasons why we love Therafirm compression gear — and why you’ll love it too!
-
Innovative Designs
In its more than 50 years of history, Therafirm has established a well-deserved reputation for itself as an innovator in the compression gear market. For example, the company patented a support design called Core-Spun that is easy to wear and stays comfortable and cool throughout the day. The product takes its name from the core-spun yarns that are used to give the socks extra stretch and make them easier to don. These Therafirm compression socks look and feel like a soft, comfortable everyday sock, with the added benefit of true gradient compression — and they come in multiple colors and patterns, too. Core-Spun technology exemplifies the innovative approach that Therafirm brings to all its products.
-
High-Quality Construction
Therafirm compression stockings and other gear are built to last, and if taken care of properly, they’ll prove themselves incredibly durable. This high quality starts at the source with Therafirm’s manufacturing techniques and standards. In fact, Knit-Right, Inc. — the parent company of Therafirm — received the ISO 13485:2003 certification for both of its manufacturing facilities, including the one where Therafirm products are made. This certification is the established quality standard for manufacturers of medical devices and is managed by the International Organization for Standardization, the largest developer and publisher of international standards for the implementation of Quality Management Systems. So, when you buy a Therafirm product, you know what you’re getting.
-
Numerous Product Lines
Therafirm makes many different products to cater to every different compression need. Since the start of the millennium alone, it’s launched four different product lines: Core-Spun, TherafirmLight for essential light support garments, Preggers with maternity wear for expectant mothers and GOGO for fashionable and comfortable support garments. Of course, Therafirm also offers many other collections for every customer, from the business executive to the performance athlete to the health-conscious senior. Whatever compression product you’re looking for, odds are Therafirm makes it, from ankle socks to pantyhose, dress socks and athletic calf sleeves.
-
Made in the U.S.A.
Therafirm takes “American made” very seriously: All the company’s products are made in its own manufacturing facility in Hamlet, N.C., and the business is run out of parent company Knit-Rite, Inc.’s headquarters in Kansas City, Kansas. While many other companies have struggled to compete with cheap exports from foreign countries, Therafirm actually had to relocate to the Hamlet facility after outgrowing its first building in nearby Ellerbe, N.C., about five years ago. Now, more than 90 local employees work to make the final products from raw materials that are also sourced in the U.S., making Therafirm products truly American made.
-
Global Reach, Local Partnerships
Just because Therafirm makes all its products in the U.S. doesn’t mean the company has a small reach: It actually ships its goods all around the world, a major reason the company earned the distinction of being North Carolina’s top rural exporter in 2018. Despite of (or perhaps because of) its global brand presence, Therafirm has a history of supporting other small businesses, working with smaller, independently owned pharmacies and medical-supply companies, which we love.
Therafirm products have everything we look for in compression gear: innovative designs, high-quality construction and a wide variety of options. The fact that the products are entirely American made but ship all over the world is just an added bonus. If you’d like help finding the right Therafirm compression stockings for you, don’t hesitate to reach out to our customer service team — we’re always happy to assist with your order or answer any questions you might have.
